As you can see, there are many different ways that you can effectively use the extra space that an ottoman with storage room provides. They are also great in a bedroom, often seen at the foot of a bed, where they can keep extra blankets for those times when it suddenly gets cold at night. They are easy to get to and no fuss at all to use. Another design has drawers built into the ottoman. As these are usually fairly small they are used for storing smaller items. Popular uses for these drawers are for storing remote controls for blinds and equipment. It is helpful to have an area specifically designated for these items as that way everyone will always know where to locate them.
When we generally think of ottoman they are nothing but a low, rectangular footrest, usually upholstered accompanying an accent chair. They are used as footrest and are perfect for comfortable seating. However ottomans have outgrown its role and we now see them along with sofa sets adding new features of extra seating or an occasional table. They come is different sizes and shapes and are much higher than the footrest. Ottoman involves a combination of shape, style and function. They are padded, upholstered low-rise bench with no armrests or back supports.
A black ottoman is often used as a footstool but it can also double up as a rather unique coffee table. Parents with young kids are often advised not to invest in a typical glass coffee table for obvious reasons. Also those wooden ones with the sharp corners can cause injury in your children and are often best avoided. An Ottoman on the other hand is soft and doesn't pose any risk to the child. Whether the child poses a risk to this piece of furniture is another story! At least the black color is less likely to show up stain damage than if it were cream or white.
One popular design allows the top section of the ottoman to lift up. The base or bottom section can be used for storage and it is frequently used for storing linen or towels, though you can use it for storing just about anything. Many people need a place to store extra old newspapers and magazines; an ottoman is great for that. Other parents with young children have used the space for storing toys and other items that their child plays with when they are in the living room. It is excellent for this type of storage, as it makes it very simple to pick up and put the toys away after the child is done playing.
